Plant Evolutionary Ecology

The current biodiversity crisis manifests itself in loss of landscape, species and genetic diversity. The overarching goal of our research is to understand the distribution, function and dynamics of intraspecific phenotypic and genetic variation in plants within the context of global change. We specifically investigate rapid adaptation of plant populations to changes in climate and land use. We love to do experiments – e.g. classical common gardens, reciprocal transplantations and evolution experiments – and we combine concepts and methods from classical plant ecology, evolutionary biology, quantitative genetics, and population genetics and genomics.
