The aim of my bachelor thesis was to investigate the cytotoxicity of the naturally-derived hydrogel components in reference to ISO 10993-5. Additionally, my bachelor thesis focused on the generation and characterization of three-dimensional multicellular spheroids of the human pancreatic β-cell line 1.1B4 via liquid overlay technique.

Scientific interests / goals
In addition to my primary field of studies, my scholarly interests are directed towards age-related diseases including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. I am particularly interested in how we age and how we can remain healthy even in old age. To better observe and analyse these complex networks of molecular pathways that contribute to the aging process, I hope to gain the required expertise in understanding the underlying cell-cell and cell-environment interactions within this master’s program.

Scientific interests / goals
I am interested in understanding the molecular switches of Gene Regulatory Networks (GRN) that preside over developmental events; especially in utero epigenotoxic effects of poisonous substances on embryonic genome. Also, the cross-talk of multiple signaling pathways via moonlighting proteins in carcinogenesis and metastasis intrigues me, as targets for cancer therapy. I look forward to learn new techniques, get in contact with cutting edge research in Developmental Biology and Molecular Oncology, as well as build myself to become a good researcher.
