Abt. Oehlmann

The objective of our research is the understanding of processes in aquatic ecosystems regarding presence and effects of environmental chemicals alone and in combination with other stressors giving rise to the following work areas:

  • Investigation of pollution in aquatic ecosystems
  • Investigation of the mode of action of chemicals on different levels of biological organisation from molecules to individuals, populations and ecosystems.
  • Development of ecotoxicological test methods
  • Effects of multiple stressors on organisms and communities

This knowledge is applied in ecological hazard and risk assessment, development of assessment criteria, conservation of biodiversity and suggestion of ecological sound management and monitoring programmes using various methods.
